Have a question?
Author: Jean-Claude Beacco
Publishing Date: 17-02-2010
This book analyzes and proposes new avenues for teaching grammar, a component at the heart of the concerns of educators since the publication of the CEFR.
The question of grammar in language teaching is no longer in the spotlight, but it is still relevant to anyone who teaches. The dissemination of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and descriptions by language (German, English, Spanish, French, Italian) of its levels, the slow development of plurilingual education
and the affirmation of research in acquisition foreign languages have put it back on the agenda.
We show how scholarly knowledge (language sciences) is at work, some of its didactic forms (for example for French, "ordinary grammar"). the expertise of teachers and the social representations of languages (chap. 1). This configuration of the knowledge involved in didactics makes it possible to account for the problems posed by grammatical activities (chap. 3 to 6), the selection of the elements to be taught (chap. 6 and 7), grammatical discourse (chap. 8) and progressions. (chap 9).
This book aims to suggest directions for research from the perspective of the contextualization of language teaching.
