This work is the first Sanskrit-Spanish dictionary with more than 64,000 translated words
Based on the author’s own prestigious Diccionari Sànscrit-Català, this dictionary constitutes a revised and improved version, as much of the vocabulary has been retranslated and encyclopedic articles on mythology, yoga, philosophy, and religion have been rewritten.
One of the most innovative features is the presentation of a double etymology: that of the Sanskrit grammarians of the Pāṇini school and that of comparative philology, which allows for a complementary vision of the word. Likewise, the most important meanings are highlighted to establish the most frequent meaning of the Sanskrit words. Regarding its lexical innovations, the technical terminology of the great philosophical schools of India has been used, especially sāṃkhya, vedānta, nyāya-vaiśeṣika and yoga.
This work is aimed not only at students of Sanskrit but also at a general audience interested in ancient Indian culture. For this reason, the volume includes an index of the mottos arranged according to the Latin alphabet.
