What does this name "Candide" mean: innocence of one who does not know evil or illusion of the naive who has not experienced the world? Voltaire plays in 1759, after the earthquake of Lisbon, on this double meaning. He shares with us the fictitious trials of a simple young man, confronted with the lures of optimism, but who does not intend to despair and who comes to a final wisdom, measured and mysterious. Candide has not finished inviting us to gay knowledge and reflection.
