    PREFACE

This book is the outcome of the seminar held on "ICT and Korean Language Learning and Teaching in India: Status & Possibilities in 2019" organised by the Centre for Korean Studies, School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi from 26-27 July 2019.

The Association of Korean Language Educators in India (AKLEI) has been holding seminars and workshops every year on different themes. The educators, researchers, and Korean language teachers present their research findings in the seminar. The compilation of research work gets published in order to help the future generation of learners and researchers of the Korean language. We are all aware of the role ICT has taken in the field of education and how integral it has become in teaching and learning. It is being used extensively in accessing, creating, storing, managing, communicating and disseminating a wide range of information besides learning and teaching. Keeping these perspectives in mind, this seminar was planned and organized with the help of the Academy of Korean Studies. This book could not get published in 2020 because of COVID-19 Pandemic. We are publishing this book in 2023; however, the data used in a few research papers could not be up to date.

This volume was contributed by ten scholars and faculty members from different universities and institutions of India. Every year, one or two scholars present a paper on ICT themes in the seminar. This year it was decided to hold a seminar on ICT themes. All research papers have focused on the use of ICT in teaching and learning, starting from the evolution of ICT to the challenges of ICT in teaching and learning the Korean language in Indian classrooms. Two professors from South Korea who were experts in the field of ICT in education delivered special lectures. Prof. Chongnam Chin from Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies delivered a lecture on "Understanding Online Korean Language Education for Indian Educators", and Prof. Jang Mira of Khyung Hee Cyber University delivered a lecture on "ICT and Korean Culture" in this seminar.
