This textbook is designed for foreign students learning Russian at an intermediate level (B1 and B2 of the CEFR).
It will help the students to improve their knowledge of contemporary Russian and international affairs, that are covered by the Russian media. The book will also present the main genres of the Russian print as well as language characteristics of modern newspapers, magazines and broadcast programmes. It contains authentic topic-organised material based on the modern Russian newspaper language. To encourage independent work, the book includes a set of exercises which can be done using the Internet, so the students could find the material for their projects themselves.
A Russian-English-Spanish-Chinese vocabulary (1500 words) of the modern social-political language is included in the book.
