About The Book
The game offers the possibility of playing at A1 level or higher (depending on the game variant chosen by the teacher).
Players have at their disposal a double-sided cardboard board with a drawing of the pirate island on one side, and a series of illustrations depicting spatial relationships with place prepositions describing them on the other side, such as in front of, behind, next to, between, under, above, on, inside. These prepositions are also found on eight separate pages. The set is completed with a deck of 58 cards with figures and sentences describing their position on the board, with each sentence left blank for the appropriate preposition.
One of the possible game scenarios: The participants of the game observe the board with the pirate island, and then each one in turn draws a card with a picture of a pirate character and an incomplete sentence describing its location on the board. The player's task is to find the drawn character on the board and complete the sentence with the appropriate preposition place. For each correctly completed sentence, the player receives a gold coin in the form of a token. The winner is the person with the most chips.
Other suggested ways to use the game:
-Variant for eight players or groups: all players sit around the board and then the leader gives each participant or group one of the cards with the preposition place in such a way that it remains invisible to other participants of the game or groups. Then the players have one minute to write as many sentences as possible based on the drawing of the pirate island using the drawn preposition place, then pass their card with the preposition to the next person or group clockwise and again within a minute write down the sentences with the received on the card with a preposition. The exchange of cards between individual participants of the game continues until the sentences are written down with all the prepositions. At the end, each participant or group reads the sentences they have composed aloud,
- Treasure hunt (a variant without using the board loosely referring to the nature of the game): the person conducting the game places the tokens in a box imitating a treasure chest, then hides the "treasure" in a secret place and uses the place prepositions learned by the students to write down instructions on individual steps until you find it (for example: Search next to the desk ..., Search for a flower ..., Search under the third bench ...e.t.c). Notes should be placed in different places in the classroom or room so that the individual directions refer to the place where the next ones are hidden. Then, the leader gives the participants of the game the first clue, and their task is to find more and find the treasure. The game can be played in teams by measuring the time it took for each team to find the treasure.
