The purpose of the manual is to prepare foreign students for passing the "Letter" subtest of the final test at the First certification level (B1). The manual consists of three parts. The first part acquaints students with the requirements and content of the first task of the "Letter" subtest. Here are guidelines and training materials for creating your own monologue statement based on read texts in the form of a letter. The second part of the manual includes 6 training variants of this subtest. The third part contains 6 variants of the second test task, which consists in creating by students their own text in the form of a letter on the proposed topic based on a verbal description of the situation. The Appendix contains methodological materials for the teacher, informing about the purpose, structure and content of the “Letter” subtest, the procedure for conducting it, processing the test results, and also presents an expert assessment checklist
